Came across this when I was scrolling what to do in Ipoh ,when we just chilled while waiting for my friend to finish work. Never knew it was a museum and its really a fun thing to do at Ipoh just across Patisserie Boutique.
This is really another hidden gem that nobody know about yet because its relatively new and there are a lot of insta worthy and some nostalgic good old days plus we legit spend like 1 hour 30 min to see and explore and capture and read the entire thing.
Here's some sneak peak of just pictures to go around the curiosity.
Facts about the Arlene House (aka Kapitan Chung Thye Phin and Phin Kee Chan) was built in 1905 by Kapitan Chung Thye Phin, a prominent Tin miner and last Kapitan China of Perak and Malaya. It was used as the Tin Headquarters & Trading House to manage his vast business activities in Malaya. The building had undergone 10 years of preservation, conservation and restoration works to return to its former glory days.
This building was constructed at 18, Station Road (now known as Jalan Dato Maharaja Lela), Ipoh, Perak and was named "Phin Kee Chan" (Peace Remembrance Store) by Kapitan Chung.
It was used as his Tin headquarters and Trading House to manage his vast business activities and concerns in Malaya. Arlene House (Phin Kee Chan) has undergone 8 years of building preservation and conversation works to return to its former glory.
As part of its adaptive reuse activities, the owner has established "Made In Ipoh", a history and heritage edutainment gallery-museum showcasing the stories, life and legacy of "The Last Kapitan of Malaya" and "Ipoh - The City That Tin Built".
Anyways this ain't a sponsor ad's , this is just a personal opinion by my thoughts really hope that people would flock to see this attraction to be known by the locals and tourist. Everything here is very well maintain and clean an honestly speaking one of the best museum I've been too and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
